Update 19 October 2020. The SEYCHELLES is now open to South African visitors. Weekly flights resume from 07 November and 3 times a week from December 2020. Check the Updated Travel Advisory and the mandatory pre-travel procedures and application.

The Seychelles consist of over 115 islands scattered in the Indian Ocean. The main, or granitic islands, are about 1000 miles east off the East African coast and stradle the Equator.

With a land area of 148 square kilometres the island of Mahe, the biggest island of the archipelago, and the seat of the Government, constitutes about one-third of the total land area. The two other main islands in terms of size and population are Praslin and La Digue which are approximately 34km and 48 km from Mahe, respectively.

The natural beauty is what sets the Seychelles apart from other islands in the Indian Ocean. You can see centuries-old giant tortoises in their natural habitat and, if you’re lucky, you may see the rare national bird, the Seychelles Black Parrot, or stranger still, the ancient jellyfish tree!

The bird life and fish species are spectacular. There are several unique species of orchid and, of course, the unique Coco de Mer on the island of Praslin.
