The MALDIVES reopened borders to tourism on the 15th of July 2020 and is now welcoming South African visitors. There is no quarantine required on arrival in the Maldives or on return to South Africa. Nearly all resorts have been approved by local authorities to accept international visitors. See COVID-19 updates from the Ministry of Health here

Almost 60 000 tourists have travelled to the Maldives since the borders re opened in July, according to the Ministry of Tourism.

Package Holidays for 7 nights from R28 000 pp. Departures on most days from South Africa via Dubai or Doha. Flights from JNB, CPT & DUR.

Flights are usually overnight, on Emirates or Qatar airlines, with a connection to Male International Airport followed by a Speedboat or Sea plane transfer directly to your resort.   Flight times from South Africa are 13 – 15 hours. We will quote you on the cheapest flight option available.   We suggest a minimum of 7 nights as travel time is long & the airfare is a major portion of the cost.  Midweek departures may be cheaper.

Weekly departures, on Air Seychelles (via Mahe), are scheduled to depart on Friday evenings between 02 July & 28 August 2021. Charter flights may also depart JNB in May & June 2021.

The route via the Seychelles is much shorter than via Dubai or Doha and the connection is seemless.

The Maldives is a country of more than 1000 islands in the Indian Ocean. It is endowed with dream like beauty and offers holiday makers the basic ingredients for a tropical holiday – great sunny days, blue skies, crystal lagoons, moonlit nights, waves lapping the soft white sand and the rustle of palm trees.

The rainy south-west monsoon lasts from April to October, when there are brief downpours followed by sunshine. The less rainy north-east monsoon occurs from December to March, when weather is light and fairly dry. The average temperature ranges from 25°C to 30°C and is highest in April and May.
